LAS VEGAS, NV – Evangeline G. Vellis passed away peacefully on September 14, 2020. She died of cardiac arrest after a long and courageous battle recovering from a serious fall in March of the same year.
Born Evangeline George Vellis, March 23, 1933, in Monterey, California
Her Parents were George (Sonny Boy) Vellis and Calliope Alexandridis Vellis
Known as “Evelyn” to her friends, and “Aunt Vee” to her beloved family, Evangeline graduated Monterey Union High School in 1952. She worked many years at University of San Francisco Medicine in the Medical Staff. Evangeline retired in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada, where she enjoyed a full life, complete with various volunteer activities.
She leaves behind three sisters who dearly miss her, JoAnne Martin, Marie Vellis, and Demetria Van Rossum. Evangeline loved all her family, her sisters, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. We will all miss the birthday card she sent us every year, as well as her cheerful phone calls.
Evangeline will also be missed by her friends who loved her kindness and sense of fun and good times. A celebration of Evangeline’s life will be held on the Wharf in Monterey in mid-October, so her family can gather privately to share stories and celebrate her life.
Evelyn’s Motto:
Love and forgiveness. Love one another especially my family, sisters, nieces, nephews, and all the grandbabies. I love you all unconditionally.
